Our barristers represent the local authority, pupils, parents, and schools in all areas of education law. This work includes disciplinary and independent review panel proceedings across all areas of school and further education. The team accept instructions in appeals to the Upper Tribunal from decisions of the First-Tier Tribunal, and claims for judicial review against decisions of local authorities and those exercising a public function.

The team have acted on discrimination claims, acting for both students, parents, and schools in claims before the County Court. Members have been instructed to challenge school exclusions before independent panels within the institution.

Our barristers have strong expertise and are frequently instructed in appeals to the First-tier Tribunal (Special Educational Need and Disability) (‘SEND Tribunal’) concerning the Education, Health and Care Plans (‘EHCP’).
