Ella is a busy family practitioner who accepts instructions in private and public children cases, as well as Family Law Act Injunctions.
Ella prides herself on her attention to detail and meticulous preparation, whilst being sensitive to the needs of her individual clients. She is approachable and able to reassure clients, including those who are particularly vulnerable. She gives clear and frank advice to clients on their prospects of success. She also has experience in representing deaf clients who either lip read or require BSL interpreters.
Ella will always strive to achieve the best possible outcome for her clients and will not shy away from robustly advancing their cases in Court. She can quickly digest large volumes of material and identify the key issues of each case. She regularly receives positive feedback from both her lay and professional clients. Family- Children (private law)
Ella represents parents, grandparents and children through their R16.4 Guardian at all stages of hearings. She is regularly instructed on multi-day Fact-Finding Hearings relating to allegations of emotional/psychological abuse, controlling and coercive behaviour and physical and sexual abuse against both parents and children.
Family- Children (care)
Ella represents the Local Authority, parents and Guardians at all stages of public law proceedings. She has dealt with cases relating to: neglect, domestic abuse, mental health, substance misuse, Non-Accidental Injury, children being beyond parental control, and applications for DoLS.
Family- Domestic Abuse/family Law Act
Ella represents both Applicants and Respondents in proceedings under the Family Law Act 1996 at both interim and contested hearings.
Private law:
B v B [2023] represented biological mother (now identifying as a trans male) in long running proceedings brought by the sperm-donor father seeking Parental Responsibility and contact. Proceedings concluded with indirect contact only.
J v P [2025] represented the mother at a Fact-Finding in which allegations of physical abuse of the child had been made against her. Allegations found to have been maliciously made by the father and that the child had been influenced by him to repeat them.
H v W [2025] represented the mother at a 4 day Fact-Finding Hearing, at which the majority of her allegations were found proven. Proceedings concluded at Final Hearing with an order that direct contact between father and child cease, and child have indirect contact only.
J v W [2025] represented the mother on an 8-day Fact-Finding Hearing on cross-allegations made by the parents. Counsel successfully argued for the admission of covert recordings into evidence. Significant findings were made against the father of controlling and coercive behaviour. All of the father’s allegations against the mother were found to be not proven.
Public Law:
A County Council v S [2022]- Instructed as junior counsel for the Guardian in an 11 day Fact-Finding Hearing relating to allegations of Non Accidental-Injury. Findings were made against the parents.
A County Council v A [2024] represented the mother on her Application to discharge a Care Order. Child transitioned back into her care.
