Joy Daniell who was senior clerk at Southernhay Chambers

We are very sorry to announce the death of Joy Daniell who was senior clerk at Southernhay Chambers from December 1985 to December 2012.

Joy’s appointment in 1985 had a huge impact on Southernhay Chambers and over her 27 years as clerk she saw a small set of 5 general practitioners become a set of 25 specialists with the largest family team west of Bristol.

Joy worked extremely hard for chambers over many years building excellent relations with our solicitor clients and enhancing the reputation  of chambers. She was highly respected on the Western Circuit for the extent of her knowledge in matters affecting the family Bar in particular.

We were very sorry to see her leave when she retired at the end of 2012 and we are extremely sad that she enjoyed such a short period of retirement.

We extend our deepest sympathy to her husband Les and to her family.

The funeral is being held on Monday 7th October but is a private family service. We are organising a memorial service to be held on Saturday 9th November at 11.00am. The venue is Southernhay United Reform Church followed by drinks in chambers Southernhay Building.
